Policosanol is a mixture of higher aliphatic alcohols found in sugar cane wax. It is used as a dietary supplement that normalizes blood cholesterol levels. Policosanol lowers LDL-cholesterol while increasing HDL-cholesterol (so-called “good cholesterol”). People with high HDL levels live to an average age. No side effects are known with policosanol.
Dosage and method of use
The recommended dose of policosanol is 1 capsule (10 mg) after dinner.
